Nothing says modern kitchen convenience like a microwave. Still, pre-packaged microwave popcorn contains a lot of strange chemical ingredients and artificial flavors, which makes home popped popcorn very attractive.
Many of us are also short on counter space. If only there was a way to make home-made popcorn without having to find a spot for another appliance.
The answer is a microwave popcorn popper! We have reviewed plastic microwave popcorn poppers, but this review is about glass microwave popcorn poppers.
Ecolution Microwave Glass Popcorn Popper
This is a brand by Epoca International a family owned business that has been bringing quality houseware to market for over 25 years. Ecolution specializes in bringing quality safe cookware to kitchens all around the world.
This glass microwave popcorn popper is made from borosilicate glass with a 3-in-1 silicone lid. It’s BPA free and dishwasher safe. It’s a popular model and a #1 best seller. It comes in a 1.5 quart snack size and a 3 quart family size. It also comes in several bright colors.
This is a fast oil free solution. Use the silicone lid to measure the popcorn and microwave for three minutes. The see through glass is great for making sure your kernels are popped, and butter can be melted in the lid and dripped on the popcorn while popping.
This was going to be our #1 recommendation, but some recent reviews have had issues with sparking and the plastic melting. Sounds like there may be some quality control issues, so we say use at your own risk. Keep an eye on the first pop. If there are any issues, return it right away.
This is another option by Ecolution. It has a glass handle instead of the plastic handle and plastic cover. It is dishwasher safe, but wide enough to put your hand in for hand washing. It also has the 3-in-1 silicone lid for measuring popcorn, melting butter, and dripping it onto the corn while popping.
Some people add butter, oil, and salt into the popper before popping. I would probably skip the oil and drip the butter through the lid, but sometimes a bit of trial and error is required to get perfect popcorn and the perfect method.
Reviewers like that this is fast and easy to use and doesn’t take up a lot of space. Some users say that this is fragile and can easily break. It’s recommended to watch things like putting cold water in the hot popper or on a cold granite counter. You could use a trivet and let it cool a bit before washing just to be on the safe side.
I’m a huge fan of silicone pot holders and trivets. They look amazing, are easy to clean, and there are so many color and style options. They last a long time too. I got my silicone pot holders over a decade ago and still going strong. I just got some really pretty trivets also.
1.5 Quart Snack Size Home-X Glass Popcorn Popper
This is a smaller option for smaller microwaves or portions. The glass is supposed to be unbreakable, but some reviewers said that their popper did break. So be careful and adjust the popping time depending on the wattage of your popper. When the pops get far and few between it’s time to remove it from the popper.
Laroma Micro 3 Quart Popcorn Popper
Here is another glass microwave popcorn popper option. It’s similar to the above options. You can pop this dry with no oil. It takes around three minutes or so for an 1100 watt microwave. You may need longer for a lower watt microwave. This one holds 3 quarts like the top two options.
A glass popcorn popper can be a great microwave popcorn option. You don’t have to use oil. It’s super fast, and you don’t have to worry about all of the effort of getting out the stove top or air popper. Enjoy!
