When I was a kid I had an electric popcorn popper, and I absolutely loved it. I even got to bring it to my 4th grade classroom when we were stringing popcorn to decorate our class Christmas tree.

I know things have changed a bit since those days, but give a kid a popcorn popper and they will find all kinds of fun uses for it. I used mine for slumber parties, afterschool snacks, and movie nights. My Mom even used the popping bowl for a mixing bowl. It was just that useful.

West Bend 82505 Stir Crazy Popcorn Popper, 6-Quart

This West Bend Stir Crazy popper is a little bit fancier than the one I had, but it would still be as fun. This popper has a motorized stirring rod, so there are no burnt kernels.

It also has a place on the top to put butter. As the popper heats up the butter melts and drips onto the popcorn. After you are done popping, just put the lid over the butter area and then you can flip the popper over and use the popping cover as a serving bowl.

West Bend 82306X Stir Crazy 6-Quart Popcorn Popper

This is the original Stir Crazy Popcorn Maker. It comes with the stirring rod, and the melting lid, and butter drip station. You can also put the cover over the butter area and then flip it over and serve the freshly popped corn in the popper cover.

This popper is the original and has received rave reviews. In our opinion, the previous popper is the newer model and probably a better purchase, but it is hard to go wrong with a classic. West Bend has been making electric popcorn poppers for a while now, and they know what they are doing.

West Bend 82386 Kettle Krazy Popcorn Popper and Nut Roaster

Here is another stirring popper from West Bend. This one has a sturdier stirring rod and it has two settings, one for popcorn and one for roasting nuts.

I actually assumed this popper was for making kettle corn because of its name, but it is just a popper. Although that won’t stop me from making kettle corn in it.

To make kettle corn, pop in coconut oil then add butter, salt and sugar. Now you have kettle corn. If you want to make it really authentic, purchase some mushroom popcorn for that true kettle corn experience.

The nut roasting is also a nice feature of this popper. Fresh roasted nuts are yummy and it is easy to make different variations with salt, sugar and spices.

This popper has an older retro look, but is still a popular model.

Presto makes an Orville Redenbacher Stirring Popper that has a six quart capacity with multi-point venting to prevent soggy popcorn and an easy to clean non-stick surface. The bowl can be flipped over for serving and the base can be nested in it for storing.

There is also a built in butter melting function that evenly distributes butter while popping. Stirring poppers are fun! They use oil, and you can achieve that movie theater style taste, and there is a nostalgic mystique around them. They can also be used to roast nuts.

Speaking of Nostalgia, this is also a popcorn maker brand. They offer a stainless steel six quart option. This popper is a quick heat option and it has the stirring capacity to make nuts and other fun things.

This is a fun model that comes with recipes and makes great popcorn. This one may even be a better option than the Stir Crazy!

There are also similar options by Aicook and MVPower. For best results use the freshest popcorn available and add oil and popcorn salt like fine ground salt or professional Flavacol. You can add the popcorn salt or Flavacol in with the oil before popping. Just remember a little goes a long way, so start with a small amount like an 1/8 or 1/4 teaspoon.
